Frequently Asked Questions

Our women’s workwear jacket range includes bodywarmers, fleeces, softshell jackets and hybrid coats. All designed to meet the demands of highly physical jobs and withstand regular washing while still staying strong and comfortable.

When you’re judging the fit of a women’s workwear jacket, your first consideration should always be comfort. You need a work jacket that allows freedom of movement, particularly round the shoulders, back and elbows, so you can bend, reach and turn easily. However you also need to make sure the jacket is not too big. A loose jacket may get in the way when you're moving, and it can also be too bulky for layering, leaving you uncomfortable when you add layers on top.

If you’re buying a softshell workwear jacket, it can be a good idea to get one that is a size bigger than what you usually wear in clothes. This will give you more space to layer a fleece or sweater under your jacket without restricting your movement or having your clothes feeling tight. For fleece jackets or bodywarmers it is usually unnecessary to size up. These are usually layered under clothes, so the additional bulk of a size-up will be more comfortable. This said, you should not size down clothes you want to wear under a coat, even if it seems to make sense that they’d fit better underneath. A size down will just feel tight and restrict your arms and shoulders. Stick to a jacket that feels comfortable, and let the space build on top.

The specific features you need to look out for will depend on the tasks you do as part of your job. For example, if you work with tools, then having a number of pockets will help you keep those items on you at all times, while deep or zip pockets will be particularly useful if you need to keep small items close to hand. Alternatively, if you’re particularly active at work, then reinforced seams and durable fabrics are worth looking out for as they’ll make clothes a lot more durable.
